I wanted to provide an update regarding drug dealing / drug use, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey. Subject: Update on our commitment to tackling drug use and dealing in your community Drug dealing and the associated anti-social behavior remain a top concern for Londoners. We hear your concerns and are taking direct action to reduce the harm drugs cause to our neighborhoods. What We Are Doing Under the Met’s Drugs Action Plan (2024–2026), we have increased local and specialist resources to target areas most affected by drug-related crime. Our approach is focused on three key areas: Targeted Enforcement: We are relentlessly pursuing the organized criminal groups (OCGs) that profit from drug distribution. Operations like Operation Yamata and our ongoing County Lines initiatives are dismantling phone-based supply routes and bringing those who exploit vulnerable people to justice. Community Presence: Your local Safer Neighbourhood Teams are conducting high-visibility and plain-clothes patrols in identified hotspots. We are also using Closure Orders to shut down properties used for drug activity, restoring peace to residential blocks. Protecting the Vulnerable: A major priority is safeguarding children and vulnerable adults exploited through "cuckooing" or drug running. We work closely with local councils and support services to divert individuals away from the cycle of addiction and crime. How You Can Help Community intelligence is vital. Even small details about suspicious activity can help us build a larger case to secure warrants and make arrests. Report Online: Visit the Met Police reporting tool to share information. Report Anonymously: If you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crimestoppers or call 0800 555 111. Emergencies: Always call 999 if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate danger. Together, we can make our streets safer and more resilient against the impact of illegal drugs.
We are committed to tackling drug dealing wherever we find it. We will keep you updated on our efforts to do this in your area, but if you have any concerns or evidence, it is important you report this as soon as possible. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.met.police.uk/, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100% anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. We are working on our brand-new strategy for how we police London and we want your help. Our New Met for London: Phase 2 strategy will guide how we deliver on behalf of Londoners over the next three years. |
